Tiffany Day at Beat Kitchen

Tiffany Day and opener PIAO stopped at Beat Kitchen in Chicago for the Lover Tofu Fruit Tour on March 15th. The artists came to Chicago the same day as St. Patrick’s Day festivities around the area, but that did not stop fans from coming to her first sold out show in this city. Tiffany Day, a Kansas-raised artist, released her debut album, Lover Tofu Fruit in September of 2024 and has amassed over 3.5 million streams on music platforms since its release.

The opener, PIAO, set the perfect environment for the rest of the show, with her choreographed dancing and power vocals to boost the energy of the audience, and giving everyone insight into her life and the meanings behind most of the songs performed. PIAO seamlessly transitioned from the uptempo songs like “tap my foot” and “flip phone” to her more personal and emotional songs like “anticipatory grief”, “pagingbubu”, and her most recent release, “love is in the fruit”. She closed off her set with three final heart-pumping songs, a cover of Paramore’s “Still Into You” (high notes and all), “GUM” and “Hannah Montana”.

During the intermission, the audience was still alive and buzzing with excitement as the venue lights turned off and the stage lighting began to flutter throughout the venue. Day’s lively energy grasped the crowd immediately, getting the audience to sing, dance, and jump for most of the opening song, “WHAT AM I RUNNING FROM”.

Tiffany Day is an artist in many ways, and it’s evident with each element of the show, carefully crafted by herself. The intricate lighting throughout, fun choreography, instrumental remixes, and even an EDM performance from her as DJ “MONOLID”, were just a few pieces that made this show a masterpiece.

The highlight of the concert would have to be the performance of an unreleased song. Before the performance, she discussed her transition from indie bedroom pop to a more hyperpop sound, and with this new sound came the dream to participate in a mosh pit. She asked the audience that when the time comes during the performance, to let her go into the middle of the audience and start a mosh pit. The audience, with excitement, moshed together with Day in the center, creating such a special memory for all.

Tiffany Day’s Lover Tofu Fruit Tour was a show special for new and old fans alike. Tiffany Day puts so much effort into every part of her musicianship. It is recognized by not only her fans, but people who are recently discovering her. With three tours under her belt now, she’ll only be getting bigger from here.
